Welcome to the 76th Anniversary year of the Philadelphia Eagles and the
and the 9th season for Millennium Philadelphia Eagles Homepage.
Last season was a tough pill to swallow as the Birds finished the season at .500 (8-8). What
made it worse was the dreaded Dallas Cowboys won the NFC East easily and the New York Giants
won their third ever Super Bowl. The Eagles won their last 3 games of the season, beating
the 'Boys in Dallas, eliminating the Saints from the playoffs and then ending the season
with a victory at the Linc over the Buffalo Bills. A healthy Donovan McNabb was hard to beat
at the end of the season and he looked like his old self once again in the pre-season. Brian
Westbrook led the NFL in total yardage last season, was finally picked outright for the NFL's
Pro Bowl and with the addition of cornerback Asante Samuel, the Eagles will surely be back
in contention after missing the playoffs two of the last three seasons. A revamped defense
has Omar Gaither moving to the weakside linebacker position, while 2nd year Husker Stewart
Bradley will be the starting middle linebacker and calling the plays. Philadelphia has three
really good rookies in DeSean Jackson, Trevor Laws and Quintin Demps. Demps will be the team's
starting kickoff returner, Laws will provide backup defensive tackle play for both Mike
Patterson and Brodrick Bunkley, while Jackson possesses blazing speed and will be the 3rd
or 4th receiver and will also do punt returns. Both Demps and Jackson scored electricfying
touchdowns on special teams in the same pre-season game versus the AFC Champion New England
Patriots. Second year Penn State man Tony Hunt will move to the full back position to provide
some extra assurance for Donovan McNabb. It should be a fun season for these young Birds and
Sports Illustrated has picked the Eagles to win the NFC by beating the Dallas Cowboys in the
NFC Championship Game and to advance to Super Bowl XLIII. It sure will be exciting if this
happens. So, check back each week as I will provide a game summary and add many photos of the
best plays of every Eagles game this season.....
